Nixon x Taka Hayashi
At Nixon, every watch is a canvas and working with the creative minds that inspire the skateboard community and those within it is always at the forefront of the design process. With that dedication in mind, the brand is excited to announce a capsule collaboration with artist and designer Taka Hayashi.
A long-time Nixon favorite, Hayashi is a self-taught painter, graphic designer, and footwear designer, born in Yokohama, Japan. He moved to Santa Monica as a young boy in 1981 and it was there that the early ‘80’s skateboarding scene began to have a huge, lifelong impact on his life and art. He began drawing at a very early age and spent most of his time either skating or experimenting with art, finding common inspiration in both mediums.
Hayashi’s traditional tribal-inspired aesthetic is brought to life on two signature Nixon styles, the best-selling Time Teller (in three unique Hayashi-inspired color ways) and the limited-edition C39 Automatic in Leather, each featuring a signature Hayashi print on the custom stamped Horween leather nato band and a palette of earthy colors including tan, black, bone and bungee. Hayashi completely redesigned the Time Teller with 24-hour indices and included custom hands and dials on the C39, both watches also feature durable Cerakote finished stainless steel cases and Hayashi’s emblem on the dial and caseback. The custom C39 features Japanese automatic movements and will be limited to 100 pieces.
